Unified asset management across water and power supports resilience and recovery for Pacific island utilities

Some of the world's most resilient utility organizations operate in places where infrastructure must perform under extraordinary conditions.”

PHOENIX, AZ, UNITED STATES, August 11, 2026 /EINPresswire.com/ -- MentorAPM, an asset intelligence software platform purpose-built for water, wastewater, electric and other critical infrastructure, is deepening its 10-year partnership with the Commonwealth Utilities Corporation (CUC) in the Commonwealth of the Northern Mariana Islands (CNMI). Since 2024, MentorAPM has supported CUC's water and wastewater operations. The partnership now extends the company's enterprise asset management platform to CUC's electric power generation facilities, creating a unified approach to managing critical infrastructure across essential services.

Under the agreement, CUC will also deploy MentorAPM's AI-powered MentorLens™ asset inventory and condition assessment solution across its water, wastewater and electric operations. The platform will provide operators with greater visibility into asset condition, helping prioritize maintenance, reduce operational risk, support more informed investment decisions and strengthen the long-term resilience of critical infrastructure.

Island and coastal utilities face a unique combination of aging infrastructure, constrained resources, supply chain challenges and increasing exposure to severe weather and other disruptive events – challenges CUC has confronted firsthand in the aftermath of Super Typhoon Bavi, the Category 5 storm that struck the CNMI in July 2026 and caused extensive damage across Rota, Tinian and Saipan. As utility operators balance immediate restoration efforts with the long-term work of strengthening infrastructure for the future, access to accurate asset data and actionable intelligence enables operators to prioritize maintenance, extend the life of critical equipment, improve preparedness before disruptions occur and restore essential services more quickly when they do.

"We're honored to continue expanding our partnership with Commonwealth Utilities Corporation," said Tacoma Zach, co-founder and CEO of MentorAPM. "Some of the world's most resilient utility organizations operate in places where infrastructure must perform under extraordinary conditions. Whether serving island communities in the Pacific, coastal utilities throughout the United States or remote systems around the world, our mission is the same: to give operators the asset intelligence they need to make confident decisions, help utilities recover, strengthen resilience, protect critical infrastructure and deliver reliable service to the communities that depend on them.”

CUC provides electric, water and wastewater services across the Commonwealth of the Northern Mariana Islands, communities that continue to recover from Super Typhoon Bavi’s direct hit on Rota. The new deployment will support five power generation facilities — three on Saipan with a combined capacity of 36 megawatts, one 20-megawatt facility on Tinian and one 6.5-megawatt facility on Rota. Together, these sites operate approximately 30 power generation engines and the supporting infrastructure required to provide reliable service to approximately 12,000 customer accounts.

This move reflects a broader shift across the utility sector toward enterprise asset management strategies that connect water, wastewater and electric operations, giving utilities a unified view of critical assets for long-term capital planning and operational decision-making.

CUC joins a growing network of utilities using MentorAPM to modernize infrastructure asset management and strengthen resilience. MentorAPM's footprint serves coastal and island utilities across the United States, including Santa Monica and Monterey One Water in California, as well as Indigenous communities in Australia, helping operators make smarter, data-driven decisions that strengthen resilience and protect essential services.
