LOS ALAMITOS, CA, UNITED STATES, August 21, 2026 /EINPresswire.com/ -- Epson to Showcase Quartz MEMS IMU Technology at Small Satellite Conference 2026

Inertial sensing experts to present latest radiation-exposure test results and discuss technology roadmap for small spacecraft and autonomous space systems

LOS ALAMITOS, Calif. 21 August 2026 – Epson will showcase its high-performance Quartz MEMS inertial measurement unit (IMU) technology for next-generation small spacecraft at the Small Satellite Conference (SmallSat) 2026, taking place August 23–26 in Salt Lake City, Utah. Visitors can meet Epson’s inertial sensing specialists at Booth #2005.

As small satellites take on increasingly demanding missions, accurate and dependable inertial sensing is becoming an important part of guidance, navigation, and control (GNC) architectures. At SmallSat, Epson will demonstrate how its Quartz MEMS IMU technology supports applications ranging from LEO constellations and Earth observation platforms to precision pointing and autonomous spacecraft.

A particular focus at SmallSat will be Epson’s continuing work to characterize its inertial technology for space environments. The company will share its latest radiation-exposure test results, discuss ongoing space-environment qualification activities, and outline its near-term roadmap for expanded environmental and reliability validation.

Epson’s IMU technology combines its expertise in precision sensing with proprietary Quartz MEMS technology to provide highly stable inertial measurements in a compact form factor. For spacecraft developers, this can help achieve accurate angular-rate and acceleration measurements while meeting demanding size, weight, and power requirements as more functionality is integrated into increasingly compact satellite platforms.

Visitors to the Epson booth will be able to discuss specific GNC requirements with the company’s inertial sensing specialists including precision pointing, attitude determination and control, autonomous navigation, and other applications where reliable inertial information is required independently of external positioning references.

The Epson team will also be available to discuss requirements associated with different mission profiles, including LEO constellations, Earth observation, remote sensing, and more demanding space missions.

SmallSat 2026 provides an opportunity for spacecraft designers and system developers to learn more about Epson’s continuing investment in the testing and validation required to expand the role of its high-performance inertial sensing technology within the space sector.
